Island in the Sky is a mountain resort in Barangay Gaas, Balamban. There really isn't much to see except for the wonderful view of mountains. :) My mom just desperately wanted to see the place. Its cool if you just want to enjoy the peace and quiet.
The resort can be reached by V-hires to Balamban (its on the left side). The ones that I saw were GT Express. We passed by a lot of those on the way to the place and going home. The views leading up to Balamban is cool as well coz you get to pass Trans-central Highway. :) We didn't stop to take pictures though. Baaaddd.

Addie and I had a lunch stop at Bogo's Pizza Pub by the plaza. I later found out that this place was a refurbished ancestral home of my friend Jason Verallo. He later texted "Thanks for the funds then. The rent subsidizes our hedonistic lifestyle." Pizza and Pub is owned by a German expat who rents it from the Verallos. The pizza is great. I saw an orange paper skeleton dangling from the window at the back of the house. I thought, "Yup, this is Jason's house alright. He used to have a collection of animal skulls before." Anyway, I love the interiors, very Mexican beach-y.

A drive down the southern coast of Cebu offers relaxing views of mangrove beaches, arching roadside acacias and old architecture. Here are lomographs from our latest trip, some with my new Diana+ (http://www.lomography.com/diana), a lomographic reissue of a 1960s toy camera famous for its unpredictable blurring and dreamy vignettes.
Carcar City--the newest city in Cebu--is one of the oldest towns as well. Known for its shoe industry (home to the uncredited largest shoe in the world) and mouth-watering chicharon (pork crackles), it is also a heritage city. The city has around 50 houses built during the mid 19th century to early 20th century, like the Balay nga Tisa, Noel House and Don Mercado House.
Farther down south is Argao, my mother's hometown. Recognized for its baroque-rococo Church of St. Michael the Archangel that boasts of detailed ceiling frescoes and a grand 'retablo', all within the well-preserved colonial town plaza, we've frequented this place for years for quick vacations and to visit relatives, both living and dead.
One of the surprising finds in this quaint town is the recent rediscovery just weeks ago of an 18th-century chapel for unbaptized dead children, across the Church.
